I Am the Utopia
A project by Creaclic – Creative Media Education, Kunsthaus KUBO, and Mütterzentrum Tenever
In the photo and video project "I Am the Utopia," young people who are new to Germany and others who have lived here longer came together to explore their big and small utopias. A world without borders, where visas or passports are no longer needed. A universal language understood across the planet. An entirely new culture on Mars. What kind of world do we want to live in? What are your biggest dreams, your smallest ideas, your visions for the city you live in? What should change, and how do we want to shape our society? These were the central questions explored by young people of diverse backgrounds in creative (holiday) workshops. From their ideas, they developed artistic photo posters and video spots, which were shown both in public spaces and in an exhibition. They worked in mixed teams: youth who grew up or had lived in Germany for some time collaborated with those who had just arrived and were living in a transitional housing center in Tenever. The result was a creative collection of utopias, hopes, and proposals for the world of tomorrow.
