PROJECTS WITH CHILDREN GROUPS

Since many years, KUBO has been inviting groups of children aged 3 to 6 to experiment, work and experience in the studio. Accompanied by professional artists, the children can actively experience art and try out different materials and techniques. The children have unique experiences in the art studio and develop their creative skills - each child at their own pace and without performance-based assessment. The children's own initiative and self-efficacy are positively impacted, their imagination is stimulated and their range of action and activity is expanded. The children are encouraged to gain access to free artistic creation, to develop a sense of material and design - without working towards a finished creative product. They experience new forms of free and playful artistic expression. The accompanying teachers and volunteers can also learn new techniques, as well as new forms of artistic expression.

Since 2009, we have collaborated artistically with a number of children's groups within the framework of activities and projects (see example below), including the children's group Bremer Kinder Centrum e.V., the children's group Elterninitiative Momo e.V., the children's group Schmuddelkinder e.V., the Kinderhaus Ostertor e.V., the Kinderinsel Sonnenschein e.V., with childminders and our direct neighbors Kindergruppe Paulskloster Bärenstark e.V. and Kindergruppe Altstadt e.V.

The children's groups were accompanied by various artists, including Isabel Valecka, Sirma Kekec, Birte Königshoff, Andreas Bernhardt, Ele Hermel, Gloria del Mazo, Caroline Schwarz, Andrea Fanelsa, Ka Jahn, Claudia Kunze, Sabine Kohn, Linda Marie Kuhnert, Martina Becker, Erik Nennmann, Stefanie Supplieth, Simon Frisch, Gertrud Schleising, Henning Pöplau, Friederike Weitz, Doris Weinberger, Jo* Szymanski, Alexander Noah, Saskia Juliane Kummle, Thomas Werner, Norman Neumann

URBAN SOUNDS - CREATING AND EXPERIENCING SOUND SPACES

Bremen is a big city. Bremen sounds, vibrates and listens. In reference to the Bremen theme year klangfrisch, KUBO invited the children's group Altstadt in spring 2021 to experiment with sounds, record them, play them back and make them artistically perceptible via self-designed sound bodies. The children's group came to the studio once a week on twelve dates accompanied by teachers to work with sound and on the topic of radio plays. With the support of Bremen artists, the children found forms of expression for their sonic ideas. The participating children had the opportunity to experiment with microphones and recording devices and to make their own ceramic sound bodies resonate. The aim of the urban sounds ("StadtGERÄUSCHE") project was to artistically process and imaginatively expand the sound of Bremen. For example, what does the underwater world or the sky in and around Bremen sounds like? In the form of a self-produced radio play as well as sounding and vibrating objects and mobiles made of clay, the children explored the diverse sounds of the city of Bremen. In a final presentation for family and friends, the resulting works were made visible and audible.
