KUBO is a non-profit association dedicated to promoting cultural and artistic education—especially for children and young people—as well as supporting contemporary art and artists in Bremen. We are a recognized provider of art and education programs for the city and surrounding areas, and a significant employer of freelance artists and art educators. Each year, up to 5,000 people visit our exhibitions and take part in our course program. Through our courses, workshops, and projects—both in our studio and in cooperation with various institutions across Bremen—as well as through our exhibitions at Galerie Mitte, we aim to offer as many people as possible the opportunity to engage with art and open up space for artistic and aesthetic experience.
With tiered course fees, free projects for children and young people, and exhibitions that are open to all during our opening hours without additional entry fees, we strive to make the field of visual art as accessible as possible. To uphold this mission, a large part of our work depends on financial support — we rely on public funding and donations.
We are officially recognized as serving the public good in the fields of “promotion of art and culture” and “promotion of education, vocational training, and student assistance.”

As a volunteer at the art studio in KUBO, you’ll gain insight into the field of aesthetic education and have the opportunity to participate in artistic projects. We welcome everyone who wants to contribute, collaborate with various artists, and support us during holiday programs, art workshops, and regular courses or projects with children and young people.
As a non-profit organization, we are happy to provide you with a certificate of participation for your voluntary work.
